Fire Department

Special Needs Program

The Mt. Lebanon Fire Department is a strong advocate of fire safety and education for all the residents of Mt. Lebanon.

We have teamed up with the school district to ensure that we reach some of our most vulnerable children, and teach several lessons in the Special Needs and Life Skills classrooms in the public schools. Lessons are presented directly in the classrooms in small groups, and tailored to the needs of each individual student. Each lesson is designed to help prepare the children, families, and caretakers for emergencies. This is one of the few structured programs in the country that reaches special needs students and families.
