Fire Department

School Program

The Fire & Life Safety Education program began in Mt. Lebanon in 1987.

Developed as a joint effort between the fire department and school district educators/administrators, the program has evolved to become the most extensive school fire and life safety education program in Pennsylvania.

The age-appropriate, comprehensive curriculum features lessons that build on the previous one. Firefighters teach two or three classes to each grade level about one week apart. The program addresses key fire and life safety issues at the child’s proper developmental cycle. We deliver serious messages in a non-threatening manner while imparting lifelong lessons that serve our children well throughout their lifetime.
