For Residents

When residents are surveyed about quality of life in Mt. Lebanon, one of the things that repeatedly surfaces is that people feel safe here.

Our department has always been proactive. Through advanced training, enhanced communication and forward-looking leadership, we have been able to support the goal of keeping everyone safe.

We also are leaders among our peers in the services we offer to residents. Click on the menu pages in this section to learn how to send us anonymous tips, how to get emergency alerts, options for getting your fingerprints and how to get unwanted medications out of your home.

One question we often get from residents: Do you need a permit to solicit door-to-door for a business? The answer is yes, and you can apply for one at the public safety building, 555 Washington Road. Canvassers do not need permits. The easiest thing you can do to not be disturbed, is place a “No soliciting” sign or sticker on your front door. You do not need to open the door for people you do not know. And if you see anything suspicious or out of order, do not hesitate to call 9-1-1. We would much prefer to check something out than to hear later that something was going on and we were not called in to assist. If it turns out to be nothing, that is QUITE OK!
