The Mt. Lebanon Arboretum produces educational and interactive events.
The Lebo Arboretum, Mt. Lebanon Conservancy and Mt. Lebanon Library co-sponsored a Tree ID Walk in the Park on Oct. 10, 2019, in Bird Park. About 30 people attended the event, led by Joe Stavish, Community Education Coordinator at TreePittsburgh. TreePittsburgh is a non-profit that grows native trees and shrubs to be planted in public spaces such as park, riparian zones and streetscapes.
On the Tree ID Walk, Joe explained how leaf shape, leaf arrangement, leaf buds, bark and growth habit all provide hints for identifying tree species.
