FEMA Flood Insurance Information

Changes to FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map
The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has provided the municipality with final copies of a Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report and a Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) which may affect your property.

FEMA did not receive any appeals of the proposed flood hazard determinations, and as such, the maps are the same as the previously received preliminary copies. The FIRM for the municipality will become effective September 26, 2014. (2014 FIRM comparison map)

The FIRM is used for flood insurance determinations, floodplain management and other planning applications. A public Hearing will be held August 25, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. during the Regular Commission meeting to consider the Municipality's flood plain ordinance.

A copy of the legal notice published by FEMA provides information regarding FEMA's website and contact information. Preliminary copies of the revised Flood Insurance Rate Map are available for review at the Mt. Lebanon Municipal Building, 710 Washington Road, during normal business hours or are available on-line at the FEMA website.

Gateway Engineers, the municipality's engineering consultant, has provided a list of Frequently Asked Questions related to the National Flood Insurance Program.

A map detailing the existing FIRM with the proposed FIRM as an overlay is available by clicking here. Community information is available by clicking here.
